Earlier in his career, Seedata.io CTO Matt Holland was the Head of Information Security for the NSPCC. It goes without saying how significant their support is to the many individuals that contact them needing help, alongside the lobbying and research they conduct to create wider improvement in conditions for children, and he’s seen first hand how hard this organisation works to deliver on its mission.
Recent events have meant the ball (and the various other fundraising events organised by White Hat Events) have had to take some fairly innovative approaches, but this has not dimmed their enthusiasm nor effectiveness, with 2020’s ball raising nearly £200k, and the “unforgettable day” event earlier in 2021 raising a further £70k.
Plans for the 2022 ball are in place, with hopes of smashing previous records, and with the backdrop of need for the NSPCC’s services never being higher. It’s been a challenging 18 months for children across the UK, and particularly those at risk of abuse or neglect. The NSPCC has had to work differently, and keep adapting to be here for children when they’re needed. Throughout lockdown, Childline counsellors continued to travel to NSPCC centres to answer over 100,000 calls from children who needed their help, working tirelessly through lockdown and beyond.
The ball isn’t just a networking event. Whilst it’s great to see old friends, and the organising team really do throw a good party, it’s bigger than that. It’s an industry coming together to do good, supporting those that need our help most. Seedata.io will be taking our place amongst the many organisations that contribute, and we encourage you to join us, in whatever way you can… Buy a ticket or two, sponsor a prize, make a donation, join one of the other great fundraising activities planned by White Hat Events but get involved and make a difference.
The 17th annual White Hat Ball will be on Friday 28th January 2022 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. The evening will begin with a sparkling reception, followed by a sumptuous three-course meal and conclude with live music at the after party.
